Lorenzo Mainardi is a 16-year-old from a good family. One day his brother Marcello asks him to speak to Aida, a dancer he has seduced and then left waiting in vain outside a garage, to make her give up and drive her away for good. Lorenzo reluctantly agrees but, as he listens to Aida’s stories, he finds himself captivated by her beauty. The boy feels the need to protect her and so tries in every way to keep her in the city, inventing lies that arouse the suspicion of his family and the adults around him. Thus, deeply concerned for him, Don Pietro, his maths teacher, decides to speak to Aida and advises her to leave the city: after all, there is too great a difference in age and social class between her and Lorenzo. She understands and flees to Rimini, chasing the mirage of a secure job. In the small town on the Romagna Riviera, Aida will once again have to face the harshest of realities, whilst Lorenzo is on her trail to say goodbye and offer her one last, small helping hand.
