In Sicily during the Second World War, thirteen-year-old Renato falls obsessively in love with Malèna, the most beautiful woman in the village. Left alone after her husband’s presumed death at the front, Malèna becomes the object of men’s desire and the victim of fierce envy from the women, facing a dramatic spiral of degradation and prejudice under the helpless gaze of the young boy.
