One of the most prominent Italian film directors, screenwriters and producers in contemporary cinema. A graduate of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, he made his debut in 1994 with the film La Bella Vita. Throughout his career, he has directed numerous successful films, often characterised by an ironic perspective and a keen eye for Italian social reality. His best-known works include Ovosodo, La Prima Cosa Bella and La Pazza Gioia. His films have won major awards, including several David di Donatello and Nastri d’Argento awards.
