Un Piede Nella Fossa

Giuseppe Miraglia is an elderly deaf man so resigned to the idea of death that he refuses to have his gangrenous foot amputated. His daughter and carer find themselves bewildered as they witness the ‘death’ of the foot. What is one to do with a piece of a dead body? The question will trigger a series of paradoxical events culminating in the foot’s funeral and Giuseppe’s hope of uniting the family, if only for a moment. But in the end, the old man will find himself alone, just as this story began, surrounded by the decay of his home and with one foot in the grave.
