OSCAR IARUSSI (Foggia, 1959), lives and works in Bari.<\/p>

A professional journalist, essayist, literary and film critic, he served as editor-in-chief and editorial director of the daily newspaper “La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno,” after long coordinating its cultural pages. He currently contributes to “Avvenire,” “Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia,” and “Domani.” He is one of the voices of “Prima Pagina” on RAI Radio Tre.<\/p>

Since 1997, he has served several times on the Expert Committee of the Venice Biennale’s International Film Festival. He has collaborated with various festivals, including the Montreal World Film Festival and the Edinburgh Italian Film Festival, and in 2013 he contributed to the drafting of the first candidacy dossier for Matera as European Capital of Culture 2019. He has created and curated several multidisciplinary reviews, including: “Mezzogiorno di cinema” for Progetto Italia \u2013 Telecom at the Petruzzelli Theatre reconstruction site (2006); “Frontiere \u2013 La prima volta,” editing the catalog for Edizioni Laterza (Bari 2011); “Tu non conosci il Sud,” held in various cities since 2014; and “Visioni e realt\u00e0 Doc \u2013 Gli sguardi, le storie” for Pres\u00ecdi del Libro (Bari 2021-2024).<\/p>

He was president of the Apulia Film Commission Foundation; scientific consultant for MIAC, the Italian Audiovisual and Cinema Museum of the Istituto LUCE \u2013 Cinecitt\u00e0; and a member of the Cinematography Commission of the Mibact. He is a member of the National Council of the National Union of Italian Film Critics (SNCCI) and is the representative for the Puglia Group.<\/p>

He taught Film History and American Film History for many years at the \u2018Aldo Moro\u2019 University of Bari and Journalism on the Master\u2019s programme established by the same university and the Order of Journalists; Film, Theatre and Television Criticism, and Cinema and Mass Communications at the University of Foggia; and has held courses and seminars \u2013 amongst other events \u2013 at the LUISS Business School in Rome (Master\u2019s in Film and Television Production Management) and at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Level II Master\u2019s in Literary Translation).<\/p>

His numerous books include: Lettera aperta. Sud, Nord e altre storie (Manni 2003), Psychoanalysis and Management. The Transformation (with David Gutmann, Karnac Books 2003, Routledge 2019), L\u2019infanzia e il sogno. Il cinema di Fellini (Edizioni Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo 2009), C\u2019era una volta il futuro.
