ORGANISED BY PIVIO - IN COLLABORATION WITH THE NICCOL\u00d2 PICCINI CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Through the teaching of the definitions and functions of film music, aided by clips taken from numerous films, the aim is to expand the range of analytical tools available to participants.<\/p>

After establishing the chronological context in which the creation of a film score takes place within the creative process of a film production, participants will be guided through the initial steps: from the first viewing of the film, to discussions with the director, to the formal and narrative analysis of individual scenes, the spotting session and the organisation of musical ideas.<\/p>

The demonstration of various film scoring techniques will provide participants with the foundations for adapting their musical composition to the visuals. The workshop will also address the method of musical composition in relation to sync points, i.e. the synchronisation between music, the film\u2019s sound elements (dialogue, ambient sound, special effects) and visuals.<\/p>

We will illustrate how artistic choices regarding composition, the development of themes, harmony and orchestration and sound can significantly alter the viewer\u2019s reception of the cinematic work.<\/p>

We will explore the relationships with the various professionals with whom the composer must interact: director, editor, producer, music publisher and music editor.<\/p>

The similarities and differences in the relationship between musical composition and film genres across different media (cinema, TV, web) will be presented.<\/p>
